Users of Smartphones with old versions of Android operating system (from 4.0.3 to 4.4.4 ) are faced with a new virus which locks the device screen and requires the owner to make a payment to unlock the device. This was reported in the official blog of the American company The Blue Coat Labs.

The threat has been revealed by the employee of the company, Andrew Brandt . According to him, the infected gadget installs a malicious application that contains the Trojan Cyber.Police. virus that locks the device and the screen . After having been installed the Cyber.Police requires the owner of the smartphone to buy two Apple iTunes gift cards that cost $ 100 each. The method of payment of this kind is preferred by the hackers not to reveal the their bank account, reports Lenta. The gadget catches the virus via  advertisements on the web pages in the browser.
