The deputies from the Communist Party Valery Rashkin and Sergei Obukhov in their appeal to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu suggested to resume the operation of SIGINT in Lourdes and place Russian missiles in Cuba to protect the interests of Russia and the CSTO allies.

According to them, earlier an information was published that the US will be deploying missile launchers HIMARS in the southeast of Turkey.

“It is worth noting that the description of those weapons, according to the available data, allow to use missiles with a range of up to 500 km among other things. Thus, the Russian CSTO allies (primarily Armenia) will be exposed to a potential threat,” the appeal says.

The deputies believe that in order to protect the interests of Russia and the CSTO allies it is necessary to take appropriate measures in response to the US actions, reported RIA Novosti. They suggest to place launchers of the same or even wider range in Cuba. "In addition , we consider that making an asymmetrical response to the DC in the form of resuming the SIGINT Station Lourdes will be more to the point " the MPs noted . The appeal stresses that such a resolution can be taken within the framework of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the USSR and Cuba.
