YEREVAN. – This year a herbarium will be created from the flowers that were placed on April 24 near the Eternal Flame at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and compost will be prepared from their stems, to be used for the care and nutrition of trees.

Ruben Khachatryan, Founder of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets, on Wednesday told the aforementioned to reporters, during the annual “Flower Gathering” at the memorial (PHOTOS).

“Memos, cards, which are used also by the [Armenian] Genocide Museum[-Institute in Yerevan], will be prepared from the flower petals,” Khachatryan added.

He noted that this year a variety of organizations have expressed a wish to assist in this flower gathering, and that it has become a self-organizing event.

Russian Ambassador Ivan Volinkin also participated in the “Flower Gathering,” which is held for the sixth year.
