Even though our Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is small, there already are plans for trade and economic cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and this means China, and soon India, Pakistan, and Iran as well; but these are completely different markets.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the aforementioned to Dagens Nyheter daily newspaper of Sweden.

“Most importantly, this is an open project, unlike some other regional integration projects,” Lavrov said, in particular. “All countries, which share the principles of equity, mutual respect and consideration of one another’s interests, can join it.

“The more powerful [countries] will have more progressive interests in this balance, but the interests of small players also will be taken into account.”

The EAEU comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
