YEREVAN. – Armenia is interested in further strengthening mutually beneficial partnership with the European Union (EU).

Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is in Finland on an official visit, stated the above-said at his talk Monday with Timo Soini, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of this country.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the interlocutors agreed to intensify high-level visits and consultations between the two ministries, enhance interaction within international organizations, and encourage parliamentarians to boost their contacts.

They also exchanged views on the avenues for the development of cooperation in several domains, and the need to expand the legal framework.  

In addition, the two FM reflected on Armenia-EU relations, and the talks regarding a new legal basis for these relations. 

Nalbandian and Soini  discussed also a number of urgent regional and international topics, including situation in the Middle East, migration crisis, and fight against terrorism.

Furthermore, Edward Nalbandian extended an invitation to Timo Soini to visit Armenia.

At the end of the talk, the two FMs held a joint news conference.
