Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry upon the latter's initiative Monday.

During the talk, the officials exchanged opinions on the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, the Russian MFA press-service reports.

While considering the Ukraine issue, FM Lavrov recalled the necessity to seek the investigation of the tragedy in Odessa on May 2, 2014. It was also stressed that there is no alternative to the implementation of the Minsk Package of Measures.

Apart from this, Lavrov and Kerry exchanged views on a number of issues on the international agenda, including the situation in the Middle East.

The officials also urged the conflicting sides to Syrian conflict to strictly observe the ceasefire.
