PSA Peugeot Citroen and Dongfeng Motor have launched the creation of a new platform to build global electric cars, the statement of the French-Chinese Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile (DPCA) reads.

This future electric platform, called e-CMP, will be based on Common Modular Platform (CMP), whose development PSA and Dongfeng launched in spring 2015.

E-CMP is designed for B and C segment vehicles for the Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Dongfeng brands from 2019.

The French will thereby produce electric cars similar in size with Peugeot 208, Citroen C3 and DS3, as well as Peugeot 308, Citroen C4 and DS4.

The partners suppose that the income of DPCS alliance will make up over 100 bln yuan (approx. $15.4 bln) by 2020, Motor reports.
