Khachik Arakelyan, 56-year-old resident of Javakhk’s Paravana village, has been arrested on charges of aiding and abetting two Azeris in kidnapping another Azeri.
The village residents told Armenian News – NEWS.am that two Azeris, who had come to the village on holidays before, visited Khachik.
The latter temporarily lent his house to the guests, who were later joined by two more compatriots. Several months ago, under the influence of alcohol the guests told that they had kidnapped one Azeri and demanded $200,000 from their relatives.
On May 11, the police arrived at Arakelyan’s house and detained him. They were accompanied by one of the Azeris living in Khachik’s house. He stated that he was kept there with Khachik’s knowledge.
A weapon, from which a man was killed, was also discovered in the house. It turned out to belong to one of the Azeris.
