YEREVAN. – I attach great importance to a Turkish man’s visit to Armenia today. The generations should be aware that Armenian Genocide recognition has no longer a way back.

Mehmet Hasan Burgucuoglu, a member of the Altona Borough Council of Hamburg and member of Die Linke [(The Left)] Party of Germany, on Thursday said the aforementioned at a press conference in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

“The [Armenian] Genocide recognition by the [German] Bundestag [(parliament)] is very important also for the Kurds and the Circassians,” Burgucuoglu stated. “I hope one day Turkey will come to its senses. The Armenian nation must be able to accept our apology.”

And reflecting on the recent violation in the Turkish parliament, and against its Armenian deputy Garo Paylan, Hasan Burgucuoglu said he is a friend of Paylan and strongly condemns such incidents.

“There are manifestations of fascism today in Turkey,” he added. “[And] we are endeavoring in every way to topple it.”
