YEREVAN. --  In the resolution submitted to the German Bundestag, the part covering Germany’s responsibility and complicity will be introduced mildly, said Ursula “Ulla” Jelpke, Left Faction MP of the German Bundestag (parliament) and member of Die Linke [(The Left)] Party of Germany, telling  Armenian News-NEWS.am that there will be a point about the responsibility of Germany.

She said, however, the “Leftists” believe that it is necessary to specify what role Germans had during the Armenian Genocide .

“I am convinced that in the resolution there will be a reference to Germany's liability and that’s all. There will be no certain actions mentioned. We think the document should describe what exactly German soldiers and generals were doing. After all, being an ally of the Ottoman Empire, they did not just stand and watch what was going on,” she said.

Yelpke said she was almost certain that no reference will be included in the resolution.

“It is clear what the reaction of Turkey will be. Therefore, we have a reason to believe that the formulation will be mild. In any case we will have to adopt the resolution, whatever form it would have, because it is a step forward in our fight,” said Ulla Jelpke.
