At midnight by Moscow time Facebook, V Kontakte, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Viber were cutoff in Kazakhstan, reports  Azzatik radio. All communication services were inaccessible for about an hour. Some users were able to access to the social networks by means of VPN.

The Kazakhstani residents consider that the massive shutdown of instant messengers and social networks is connected with the planned rally against changes of land norms scheduled for May 21.

According to the portal statistics, more than 20 people from May 17 have been arrested for unauthorized calls for organizing rallies in the country. Now, judging from Twitter users in Kazakhstan, the access to services is restored.
