NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the North Atlantic alliance does not want a new "Cold War" with Russia.

“We have been watching Russia intensively investing in its armed forces for quite some time now,” Stoltenberg said, sputniknews reported.

According to him, NATO is only responsible for these actions and strengthens the defence, as well as tries to avoid escalations and maintain an open dialogue.

At the same time, he noted that now the alliance doesn't see direct threat from Moscow, the news agency reported.

Stoltenberg also said that decisions on military presence of NATO's eastern flank will be made at the summit of NATO in Warsaw at the beginning of July.
