The Australian Electoral Commission has appealed to the citizens of Australia, recalling the last time that the registration process for the parliamentary elections on July 2 will end on May 23, at 20:00 by local time. According to the assessment of the Commission, 950 thousand people have not registered to vote in the elections, reports TASS. Voting is not only a right but also is a duty. In order to be able to vote they need to register in advance at the offices of the Election Commission or via the Internet.

As a rule , citizens who recently turned 18 years old, or who have changed their place of residence after the recent elections and did not inform the Commission about their new address can not register to participate in the elections. Australia set 20 Australian dollars fine for refusing to vote ( US $ 15 ).
