The Japanese automobile company Toyota Motor recalls 1.58 million cars in the U.S. for replacement of airbags of Takata firm that had a potentially dangerous defect, RIA reported quoting Kyodo.

According to its data, because of this defect Toyota Motor has recalled over 4.7 million vehicles of 2006-2011 nine models in the U.S., including Toyota Yaris and Lexus IS.

In some cases the airbags produced by Takata, which are used in Toyota cars, reportedly shot metal details at passengers.  Defect of the airbags is linked to the death of more than ten people around the world, Kyodo notes.
