YEREVAN. – Vice president of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Hermine Naghdalyan, on Tuesday received Valeri Simeonov, a member of the NA of Bulgaria.

The Armenian NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Naghdalyan noted that Armenia has always perceived Bulgaria as a traditional brotherly country, and underscored the Bulgarian MPs’ visit to the country.

She reflected on the two key issues that are on the political agenda of Armenia: international recognition of Armenian Genocide, and of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh).

Hermine Naghdalyan thanked the Bulgarian parliament for adopting a declaration which recognizes the mass annihilation of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, and for declaring April 24 Remembrance Day of the victims of this tragedy.

Subsequently, the interlocutors discussed the avenues for the development of parliamentary relations between the two countries.

Simeonov, for his party, noted that Armenia is a friendship country for Bulgaria. He added that the crimes which Turkey has committed have no statute of limitations, and they need to be recognized.

“We are the fighters of truth in genocide recognition,” he added.

The Bulgarian MP stressed that he and his fellow party members have always continued their righteous struggle for Armenian Genocide recognition.

At the end of the talk, Valeri Simeonov was awarded the National Assembly of Armenia Medal of Honor, in recognition of his pro-Armenian activities and contribution to the strengthening of Armenian-Bulgarian parliamentary ties.
