The US military is not going to Syria to conduct joint operations with the Russian troops against the terrorist group Islamic State, announced the Pentagon spokesman Michel Baldans. At the same time he noted that Russia maintains the ceasefire agreement in Syria , focusing on the fight against the Islamic state.

The spokesman of Pentagon also reminded about the memorandum of understanding on flight safety over the Syrian airspace, signed between the US and Russia. According to him, today the memorandum is working effectively, and they continue to adhere to its conditions, he added.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that there is a chance that the Russian and the US militaries can be coordinated for the liberation of Rakka.
