YEREVAN. – The National Assembly of Armenia on Wednesday adopted the draft Electoral Code, in the third and final reading.
A total of 102 MPs voted for, 17 others cast their ballots against, and 3 deputies abstained during the respective voting, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from Parliament.
Pursuant to the new Electoral Code, parliamentary elections will be the only national elections in Armenia, and they will be conducted solely through proportional election system; that is, with political party lists.
In addition, guaranteed parliamentary seats will be allocated to the four largest national minorities in the country.
Also, E-lists are expected to be introduced, and online voting will be set up for Armenian diplomats and Armenian companies’ employees who work abroad.
