YEREVAN. – As a result of the hostilities in April, we had unacceptable territorial losses and an open door for handing over territories.

Arman Melikyan, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) former Foreign Minister, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.

“We [i.e. the NKR] face the prospect of getting an uncertain status in return for specific territories, [which is] completely unacceptable for the Armenian interests,” said Melikyan. “If the Armenian parties [to the Karabakh conflict] don’t take immediate steps, very bitter events await us in the future.”

As per the NKR ex-FM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia statements, according to which the views of the Armenian side and of the international community coincide, have nothing positive.

“Launching of the ‘territories in exchange for uncertain status’ formula will lead to the loss of territories, and it will not add to our security; it will exhaust the security resource which we have,” noted Arman Melikyan. “And from the political point of view, it will zero the real international standing of Armenia.”
