For the first time living with parents has overtaken other living arrangements for 18- to 34-year-olds, Washington Post reported quoting Pew Research Center.
Nearly one-third of the representatives of the young generation live with their parents. A smaller group live with a spouse or a partner. Thus, living with parents for the first time has overtaken living with a spouse in this age group since such 1880.
Other young Americans live alone, with other relatives, in the dorms of the college, as roommates or under other circumstances.
Nearly 43% of Americans aged 18-34 were married or lived with the partner in 2000. Their share fell to 31.6% by 2014. In 2000, 23% of young residents of the US lived with parents, in 2014 – 32.1%, the news agency reported.
