YEREVAN. - The level of artesian water in farmers’ wells is rising in Armenia’s Masis and Armavir provinces, Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan said during the discussion of the report on the republic’s state budget performance in 2015.

Nearly 100 artesian wells were temporarily closed or shifted to valve regime in 2015.

Consequently, the level of artesian water rose from 20 to 65 cm in Armavir and Masis provinces.

“There is again water in the parched wells. The residents say they feel the difference. Thus, they themselves began to show us the illegal wells. This year we are going to close or limit 20 more [such wells],” Grgoryan said.

At the same time, the Ministry wants to apply to international projects with the request to research the horizon of Armenia’s underground waters, he added.
