YEREVAN. - The Armenian Government is working towards selecting a single water supply operator for the republic, Chairman of State Committee of Water Economy Aram Harutyunyan said during the discussion of the report on the republic’s state budget performance in 2015.

The State Committee is holding talks with four companies selected in a short period of time to reveal which one of them is ready to comply with the requirements of the schedule and reliability of water supply.

The single operator should be selected in mid-September and start its operation from January 2017.

As a result of the preliminary qualification of the State Committee conducted in the beginning of the year, 4 candidate companies have been selected.

Three of these four companies are already working in the portable water system. These are French Saur and Veolie Generale des Eaux (the former manages portable water systems in seven provinces of Armenia, the latter dealing with the suburbs), consortium of Armenian A&G Service and German Dekon International GmbH, Consulacqua Hamburg Beratungsgesellschaft GmbH and Aufbereitungs und Entsorgungs GmbH (manages the systems in Armavir, Shirak and Lori provinces).
