Turkey again started to put pressure on Germany, ahead of the German Bundestag debates on the Armenian Genocide resolution.

During a telephonic conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Turkey’s newly appointed Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım criticized the “unfounded and unjustified political decisions,” according to Der Spiegel newspaper of Germany.

At the initiative of Chancellor Merkel, a telephonic conversation was held with Yıldırım on Monday evening, during which Merkel wished to congratulate him on being appointed PM.

Binali Yıldırım, however, informed that the Government of Turkey, the whole country, and millions of Turks in Germany are concerned about the developments.

“Ankara expects a respectful position from the German government and Bundestag,” the Turkish PM stressed.

The aforesaid resolution, entitled “Remembrance and commemoration of the genocide of Armenians and other Christian minorities in 1915 and 1916,” will be put to a vote in the lower house of the German parliament on Thursday.
