The Bundestag MPs received threats and offenses by email in recent days in connection with the plans to adopt a resolution in which the mass killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire are called genocide, Spiegel Online writes.

Each of the factions confessed that their MPs, especially those with Turkish descent, received letters with offenses. The author of the draft resolution, Co-Chairman of the Green Party Cem Özdemir, informed that in the messages received by email, Facebook and Twitter, the anonymous called him a “traitor”, “Armenian terrorist” and even “Nazi”.

Several journalists, who used the term “genocide” when covering the given topic, received the following threats: “You should be put out of the way”, “You will die like Hrant Dink”.

According to Spiegel, the Bundestag MPs and journalists receive thousands of emails with a protest against the plans to adopt the resolution, TASS reports.

The draft resolution, which mentions the word “genocide” four times, is planned to be discussed at Bundestag on June 2.
