The problem for which we have gathered is well known – it is the Karabakh conflict which we have inherited from old times, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Kremlin reports.
“And against the backdrop of the just finished St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, I would first of all like to note that by virtue of the reasons we know, we unfortunately observe a certain drop in the commodity turnover - last year and this one. This also includes the fall in energy carrier prices, the reasons of which are known to us,” the Russian President said.
“I would like to take advantage of our meeting today to talk about this, as well as other issues constituting our bilateral ties, including the humanitarian aspects. We know how carefully Azerbaijan approaches Russian language teaching and how successfully the branches of our educational institutions function [there]. We appreciate all this. I hope that this work will be continued in all directions,” Putin noted.
