President of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan Vladimir Putin, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev stated about their commitment to the normalization of the situation on the Nagorno-Karabakh Line of Contact, agreeing to increase the number of OSCE observers, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov told journalists Monday, TASS reports.

“Apart from the specific steps outlined by us for activating the negotiation process, the presidents agreed on a trilateral statement, which confirms their commitment to the normalization of the situation on the Line of Contact, as well as their agreement to increase the number of OSCE observers, who work in the conflict zone. The document also reflects their commitment to create conditions for a steady process in negotiations on the political settlement of the conflict,” the Russian FM said.

The recent days have seen “silence and generally observation of ceasefire” on the Line of Contact, Lavrov noted.

Responding to the journalists after the presidential talks, the FM noted that the observation of ceasefire is mentioned in the leaders’ statement. He also stressed the fact that the OSCE Secretariat deals with the prevention of incidents and their investigation.
