Three men suspected of being linked to Daesh have been detained in Turkey for planning a terrorist act during the gay parade in Istanbul.

According to the Turkish news agency Dogan, one of the detainees is a Turkish citizen, while the other two are from Russia’s Dagestan, Reuters reports.

Two of the Russian detainees are from the Chechen Republic, TASS reports, citing Yeni Safak newspaper.

The suspects were detained late Tuesday evening, on June 21, Dogan reports. According to TASS, a suicide bomber’s belt, military uniform, knives, laser ranger and a large number of IT documentation have been seized from the mentioned persons.

They allegedly planned to explode themselves in the crowd of the representatives of sex minorities last Sunday, June 19. On that day, the members of the local LGBT communities tried to hold a march, but the police prevented them, using tear gas and rubber bullets.

Currently, all the three detainees are under custody. Official charges will be brought against them in the coming days.

At the same time, the Russian diplomats noted that they have received no official information on the detention of Russians in Turkey. “Currently we have no official information in that regard,” the source in Istanbul’s Russian Consulate General told TASS.
