Fr. Hovsep Galstyan, the person in charge of the information system of the Armenian Catholic Church of Armenia, told about the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am. He also gave some details about the Pope’s forthcoming visit to the second largest city of Armenia.

Accordingly, after the tour, the Bishop of Rome will head for the Our Lady of Armenia Boghossian Educational Center of the Armenian Catholic Church. The center staff has prepared a gift for the Pontiff, and it is a bronze statue of two homeless orphans.

“Since we have orphaned, abandoned children in our center, we wanted to represent this to him in the form of a present,” said Sr. Arousiag Sajonian, head of the Our Lady of Armenia Convent in Gyumri.

In Gyumri, Pope Francis will also be presented a mushurba gurgle cup—which is considered a symbol of the city—as a gift.

Subsequently, the Bishop of Rome will visit the St. Mary’s Church, and then the Holy Martyrs Armenian Catholic Cathedral in Gyumri.
