The soldiers of Meghri border detachment detained an intruder on the Armenian-Iranian border who was trying to smuggle drugs into Armenia, informs the press service of the Border Guard Department of FSB of the Russian Federation in Armenia.

“At Agarak checkpoint ( Syunik region) during a border control the guards inspected the car of a citizen of Iran , born in 1959. During the inspection which was carried out by means of a service dog, the guards found a plastic bag with a substance of light green color , which is presumably marijuana,” said the statement.

In accordance with the acting law, the detainee was transferred to the staff of the Anti- Smuggling Customs Committee of Armenia for further investigation . Since the beginning of this year, the Russian FSB Border Management in Armenia prevented the import of hard drugs weighing more than 250 grams at Agarak checkpoint.
