A monument honoring the victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando to be established  in New York, New York Daily News reported.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that the state will allocate $ 1 million for the construction of the monument.

It is noted that the design of the monument and its location will be determined by a 10-person commission of LGBT politicians, community leaders and activists, including former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

Earlier, U.S. President Barack Obama declared the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village in the Lower Manhattan a national monument.

On June 12 in the city of Orlando in Florida a man armed with rifles and a pistol shot 49 and injured more than 50 people in the gay club Pulse.

The suspect is previously identified as the 29-year-old U.S. citizen Omar Mateen.
