YEREVAN. – Arman Tatoyan, Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, on Monday met in Geneva, Switzerland, with  Gianni Magazzeni, Chief of the Americas, Europe & Central Asia Branch of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The ombudsman’s office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Tatoyan presented Azerbaijan’s atrocities against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), in early April, and as examples of human rights violations.

He stressed that the Azerbaijani aggressive policy, which incites  hatred and violence against ethnic Armenians, is destructive for the civilized international human rights system, and that this policy is encouraged in Azerbaijan at state level.

Tatoyan underscored the need for Artsakh’s participation in international meetings and discussions on human rights.

The interlocutors recorded that violations of human rights are impermissible, and protection of rights shall recognize no borders or politics.

They also discussed the need for increasing the capacity of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
