YEREVAN. – Interim meeting of the Armenian-American Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was convened Monday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The event was chaired by Vache Gabrielyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms of Armenia as well as Armenian co-chair of the commission, and by Bridget Brink, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the US Department of State as well as US co-chair of the commission.

The parties noted the progress in the activities of this commission, and aimed at making joint cooperation grow deeper. 

Gabrielyan stated that the two sides have carried out active work on numerous matters. Brink, for her part, said the Armenian-American working group is still an important platform to work on several matters of mutual interest.

They noted that, within the framework of this working group, the two parties have achieved real progress in energy, mining, and tourism. 

The discussants added that great attention is paid to the Armenian government’s efforts to combat against corruption.
