The Embassy of Armenia in Georgia is able to help solely by providing useful information to the Armenian citizens who are caught in a traffic jam since June 23, as a result of the closure of Georgia’s country’s Stepantsminda-Larsi Highway—which leads to the Armenian border—, and due to the landslide risk and the overflowing of Terek river because of heavy rain.

Ani Hayrapetyan, assistant to Armenian Ambassador to Georgia Yuri Vardanyan, on Tuesday told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In her words, the embassy is trying to do everything to help these Armenian citizens.

“At this moment, the necessary machinery is operating in the area, to restore the road as quickly as possible,” said Hayrapetyan. “Numerous citizens of the Republic of Armenia are facing difficulties, which is very sad. They call us [by phone] a lot, but, unfortunately, in this situation, the embassy can assist only with information. We are constantly in touch with the Georgian side. [But] according to the information we have at this moment, the road will be closed still for 12-13 days.”
