The Turkish authorities can consider the issue on the compensation for the death of Su-24 pilot Oleg Peshkov upon the relevant request from his relatives, Turkish Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalın said Tuesday.

“We are ready to take necessary measures to “alleviate the family’s pain”, as mentioned in the president’s letter. If there is a relevant request from the family, we will definitely assess it from humanistic point of view. No such request has yet been received,” the Spokesman said, TASS reports.

Earlier, Turkish PM Binali Yildirim stated that the country is not going to compensate Russia for the cost of the Su-24 jet downed in November. In his words, Turkey merely apologized for the incident.
