A number of German politicians, human rights activists, and celebrities have filed a lawsuit against Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other Turkish officials, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity, reports the DW.

The file against Erdogan’s former Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu and other officials submitted lawyers Britta Edern and Petra Dervishay on behalf of the German politicians and human rights lawyers. They also present the cases of murdered Kurds and assassinated MP from the People's Democratic Party .

The Turkish officials are suspected of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The suit was submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office on June 27 in Berlin, Germany.

The suit, first of all, refers to the actions of the Turkish army in the Kurdish regions of southeastern Turkey , particularly in the town of Cizre, where dozens of people were killed in clashes between the Turkish army and the Kurdish groups.

In one of the cases, 178 people tried to escape from the Turkish military attacks hiding in the basement of one of the buildings. However, afterwards, their burnt bodies have been found there. The lawyers allege that the security forces set fire to the basement, preliminary pouring it with gasoline, or killed the Kurds who had found a shelter there and then burned their bodies. Eyewitnesses recorded in detail the alleged war crimes.

Ulla Yelpken a leftist MP, who is among the plaintiffs, accepts that the court might not wish to hear the case. “It is more likely that the German justice system, in 2011, following a pattern of a similar suit against Erdogan , would disclaim the responsibility to investigate the case,” said Ulla Yelpken.
