YEREVAN. – All arrangements with Russia are carried out at a proper level.

The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, on Wednesday told the above-said to reporters at Yerablur Military Pantheon in capital city Yerevan.

He stated this reflecting on the agreement with respect to setting up an Armenia-Russia united air defense system in the Caucasus, and the $200-million loan agreement with Russia.

“Our technico-military cooperation is developing,” noted Ohanyan. “It is from the Russian Federation that we carry out the largest volume of imports to Armenia, in terms of arms and military equipment. Also, it is Russia that assists in ensuring balance in the region.”

As per the Armenian defense minister, the loan agreement, which was signed last year, will enable Armenia to have modern weaponry, purchase arms  at domestic prices within the framework of Russia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), establish contact with various respective enterprises, and have an opportunity to form joint ventures.

As for the united air defense system agreement, Seyran Ohanyan stressed that this document will enable to include the fourth generation multifunctional fighter planes and all air and space forces of Russia within Armenia’s air defense tasks in the region.

“In this regard, we don’t see a more reliable partner as the Russian Federation,” concluded the Armenian defense minister.
