NATO is taking confrontational steps toward Russia, Moscow will adequately react to it,  but will not give in to “a militaristic frenzy”, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated.

At a meeting with Russian ambassadors and representatives of international organizations, Putin said that NATO’s anti-Russian orientation deliberately stuck out today. The alliance is looking in Russia's behavior the confirmation of legitimacy and appropriateness of its existence, and, moreover, is taking real confrontational steps against Russia, Sputnik News reported.

The president said that Russia was not going to give way to “a militaristic frenzy” but would react accordingly.

Putin also noted sharp growth of NATO’s activity on the Russian border.

“We are constantly being accused of military activity. Where? On our own territory. But the things happening on our borders are considered ‘normal’”, the president mentioned.
