Militants of the terrorist group Islamic state have claimed responsibility for taking hostages at a restaurant in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, reports BNO News.

As Dhaka Tribune notes two policemen were killed during a shootout with the militants, reports RIA Novosti. The armed men attacked a restaurant in the diplomatic quarter in Dhaka.

According to Dhaka Tribune, militants took 20 people hostage, including foreigners.

TASS referring to the Times of India reports that 35 people were wounded. The police confirmed that among the hostages there are a few foreigners. The group that captured them was composed of nine gunmen. According to the officially unconfirmed data, there are at least 12 foreigners , including citizens of Italy, Argentina, and India, in the hands of militants.
