YEREVAN. – Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan, who is also Armenian co-chair of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, on Friday attended and addressed the 17th meeting of this commission, which was held in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The government press office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that, first, Abrahamyan thanked the Russian leadership for its assistance rendered to the Armenian citizens who were and are stranded nearby the Upper Lars checkpoint at the Georgia-Russia border, and due to floods. 

Subsequently, the PM noted that, overall, the work agenda of the aforementioned commission was carried out. 

In the Armenian Premier’s words, positive dynamics have been recorded in Armenian-Russian trade and economic cooperation, and these dynamics need new impetus.

Abrahamyan noted that close cooperation is established in numerous domains, and a joint scientific and technological infrastructure has been formed.

The PM also underscored the need to enlarge Armenia-Russia trade and economic cooperation.

Transportation Minister of Russia Maksim Sokolov, who is the Russian co-chair of the said commission, for his part, stated that trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Russia is developing with success, and that trade is increasing. 

In his words, Russia is the  main economic partner of Armenia, and Russian investments in Armenia’s economy are increasing year by year.

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and Russian Transportation Minister Maksim Sokolov also held a tête-à-tête within the framework of the 17th meeting of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation.

They discussed the agenda of Armenian-Russian collaboration. 

The interlocutors also underscored the need to strengthen Armenian-Russian of trade and economic relations, and the continuous steps toward intensifying bilateral trade.
