Azerbaijan is currently negotiating to get a $5-billion loan to fund its part in the Southern Gas Corridor project.

Samir Sharifov, the Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan, stated about the aforementioned, according to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

The total cost of this “corridor” is estimated at $40 billion, reported Trend news agency of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan’s respective section amounts to $13 billion.

The corresponding talks are conducted with the Europe Development Bank, and other international loan organizations.

The Southern Gas Corridor is a priority project for the European Union, and whereby 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas is planned to be transferred from the Caspian region of Azerbaijan to Europe via Georgia and Turkey.
