YEREVAN. – Several dozen people have called the hotline, which is set up for Armenian citizens who are affected by the events that occurred in Turkey.

Tigran Balayan, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia (MFA), told about the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We received 20 to 30 calls,” said Balayan. “A person’s daughter was to return from Turkey; we found, [and] contacted [her].

“And there were people asking they planned a travel [to Turkey], [and] whether or not they should go. And we advised that they refrain from traveling to major [Turkish] cities.”

The Armenian MFA spokesperson added that they also have received numerous mails via social networking websites.

The affected Armenian citizens call this telephone number: +374 60 620552.

A group of military servicemen attempted a coup in Turkey, from late night on July 15 to early morning on July 16, but it failed. 

More than 260 people died during the ensuing clashes.
