Mercedes-Benz has introduced a prototype of the self-driving bus of the future.
The program saw one of its Future Bus vehicles drive 20 km on a route in the Netherlands, reported Motor.
The respective CityPilot automatic control system operates by way of numerous transmitters, video cameras, and a GPS module.
Mercedes-Benz informed that this self-driving bus can be driven with up to 1 cm accuracy.
The autonomous functions of this vehicle manage speeds of up to 70km/h, and also take care of navigating to raised bus stops along the route, and slowing down and stopping to pick passengers up.
The Future Bus salon comprises futuristic seating, a large display, an innovative ticket counter, and a wireless smartphone charging system which is installed on the luggage shelves.
