YEREVAN. – As a result of the first half of the current year, a total of 19,719 passengers departed from and did not return to Armenia by plane, according to Zhoghovurd newspaper.

“Also noteworthy is the fact that passenger traffic at Zvartnots [International Airport in capital city Yerevan] increased by around 11 thousand passengers, on the basis of the first half of this year, as compared to last year.

“But the opposite phenomenon occurred in the case of Shirak [International] Airport in Gyumri; passenger traffic decreased by about 60 percent. (…) we can say that this airport has already suffered major economic losses this year,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
