YEREVAN. – Armenia has already reaped the benefit from the recent military coup attempt in Turkey.

Ambassador Ara Papyan, Modus Vivendi Center Director and political scientist, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Tension has eased at the Karabakh front, and it will ease more,” said Papyan. “Turkey was forced out [in connection with this conflict], at least temporarily. Instability [in Turkey] will not let it push its interests forward in Karabakh.”

As per the analyst, the other positive factor for the Armenian side after the coup attempt in Turkey is that the Turkish army will weaken further, along with the officers being forced out.

A group of military servicemen attempted a coup in Turkey, from late night on July 15 to early morning on July 16, but it failed. More than 260 people, however, died in the ensuing clashes.
