Sydney primary school banned clapping, BBC reported.
Students are advised to express their emotions with the help of “silent cheering”, “excited faces” and “punching the air”.
Thus, according to the Elanora Heights Public School, the rule was introduced to respect students who “sensitive to noise”.
As the News agency, this is another example of flash of political correctness at the Australian schools where previously hugs, Christmas songs, and Australia Day celebrations have faced bans at different schools around the country. Also teachers were asked to stop addressing students as girls, ladies and women in favour of gender-neutral language.
