Russian adventurer Fedor Konyukhov on Saturday reached the meridian of the West Australian city Northam where11 days ago he began his flight around the Earth in hot air balloon called ‘Morton’, The Daily Mail reported.

It happened at about 13:01 local time. Thus, Konyukhov overcoming 34,700 kilometers, set a record for the fastest round-the-world flight in the hot air balloon in about 11 days 5 hours and 31 minutes.

The traveler not just overcame a record meridian, but also managed to make it over Northam just a few hundred meters from the starting point. Now the pilot prepares for a landing.

Only two similar trips have been made so far: in 1999 by Swiss Bertrand Piccard and Englishman Brian Jones (19 days, 21 hour and 55 minutes); in 2002 by American Steve Fossett (13 days, eight hours and 33 minutes).

Start of the round-the-world travel was transferred several times. Finally Konyukhov started the trip on July 12 at 02:30 Moscow time.
