YEREVAN. – Armenia's national security service addressed members of the armed group seizing police regiment in Yerevan police with a call to voluntarily lay down their arms and surrender.

The press center of the service issued a statement reminding members of the group of a number of illegal actions: taking hostages, seizing the building and a vehicle), illegally acquiring and movement of weapons.

Persons who have committed the mentioned offences may face up to 15 years in jail.

At the same time, if there are grounds and conditions provided by the legislation of Armenia, a person who rejects the demands and voluntarily releases the hostages will be exempt from criminal liability. A person, who will lay down illegally acquired weapons, will be exempt from criminal liability if his actions do not contain any other crime.

The statement says the members of the group accepting the offer to surrender, must go out through a checkpoint, “walking 50 meters with their arms over the heads, laying down arms near a store and approaching the police one by one.”
