Armenia will participate in the new EU program on support of the cross-border project in countries of the Black Sea basin, told the first Deputy Minister of Economy Garegin Melkonyan to journalists on July 26 during the presentation of the program in Yerevan.

The total budget of the program makes 54 million euros. The participants of the project are 3 EU countries, which are situated at the  Black Sea (Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece), and 8 non-EU countries, including Armenia. The program objectives are to stimulate a cross-border cooperation, particularly among non-profit organizations. Among the potential participants are NGOs, schools, cultural, tourist, and regional development associations, as well as research organizations, administrations of  the reserves and protected areas. The application must involve organizations from at least 3 countries (1 EU country and two countries outside the EU). From 300.000 to 1.5 mln. euros are allotted per project.

"A few years ago, more than 20 organizations took part in the contest at the first stage, whereas the new program will last until 2020 , and it is possible that it will continue afterwards", said Melkonyan .
