The death toll as a result of heavy rains in northern and northeastern China has reached 164, 125 having gone missing,  Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) of China informed Tuesday, Xinhua reports.

As of today, the unfavorable weather conditions have affected 10 administrative units at a provincial level. Hebei and Henan provinces, where the situation is the harshest of all, 514,000 people have been relocated. Nearly 125,000 are in need of urgent humanitarian aid. About 126,000 houses have been devastated, 344,000 residential buildings being damaged to different degrees. The floods have also destroyed the harvest on 1.18 mln ha farmland. The total amount of direct economic damage is assessed at $4.7 bln.
