The Central Election Commission ( CEC) of Georgia refused the opposition party  Kartuli Dasi  to hold a referendum on membership in NATO , informed he head of the party Jondi Baghaturi to the Sputnik-Georgia. In June, the initiative group applied to the CEC to hold a referendum on the  following: " Do you support Georgia 's accession to NATO ." A month later, the CEC decided to reject the application .

According to Baghaturi the CEC did not justify the reasons of its decision , therefore, the opposition party will appeal that case in the court . According to him , Georgia 's membership in NATO is not a guarantee of stability , given the events that recently took place in the member states , in particular , in Turkey.
