YEREVAN. – Armenian police yesterday’s actions on Khorenatsi Street are absolutely meaningless and illegitimate, chairman of the Democratic Party Aram Sargsyan said.
According to explanation of the police, there is a suspicion that people have weapons.
“This means it is possible to detain anyone in the street. I had an impression that we are in Turkey, where a coup attempt was made, and 13 thousand people were detained. This is the worst and most dangerous political line pursued by the Armenian authorities,” Sargsyan told reporters.
Armenian authorities, he continued, are required to report to their own public about their actions, because people put forward a requirement to hold a serious and fundamental internal reform.
Seeking to prevent the rally, police detained large number of citizens in Khorenatsi Street.
